Δενδρολίβανο - Rosemary
Το δενδρολίβανο είναι αρωματικός, αειθαλής θάμνος. Η λατινική ονομασία του φυτού Rosmarinus σημαίνει δροσιά της θάλασσας και είναι σύνθετη από τις λέξεις ros (δροσιά) και marinus (θαλάσσιος), γιατί πιστευόταν ότι το φυτό μπορεί να αναπτυχθεί χωρίς πότισμα, αρκούμενο μόνο στην υγρασία που έρχεται από τη θάλασσα.Τα άνθη του προτιμώνται από τις μέλισσες και γίνονται πηγή για την παραγωγή μελιού.
Οι τρυφεροί βλαστοί και τα φύλλα του δενδρολίβανου χρησιμοποιούνται ως αρωματικό σε πολλά φαγητά. Στα ψητά δίνει μία ιδιαίτερη γεύση. Στη ζαχαροπλαστική το χρησιμοποιούν κυρίως στα γλυκά του κουταλιού.
Rosemary
Rosemary is an aromatic, evergreen shrub. The Latin name of the plant Rosmarinus means coolness of the sea and is composed of the words ros (coolness) and marinus (marine), because it was believed that the plant can grow without watering, sufficient only for the moisture coming from the sea. Its flowers are preferred by bees and become a source for honey production.
The tender shoots and leaves of rosemary are used as an aromatic in many foods. It gives the grilled a special taste. In confectionery it is used mainly in pastries.
